Developing Mental Strength
Developing a strong mind is important when facing life’s problems. All of us have experienced difficulties at some time in our lives. Times of stress, hurt, or sorrow affect all of us. If we have a strong mind we can endure these bad times. A strong mind can help us stay positive and move forward despite our circumstances. The Buddhist monk “Phra Paisal Visalo” offers some thoughts and insights into how we can develop a strong mind. Here are some ideas to consider from his teachings.
Controlling Our Thoughts
So how can we develop a strong mind?
The most important thing we must do is protect our minds. Negative emotions and thoughts are a constant threat to a sound mind. We must stop putting bad thoughts and negative feelings into our minds. Negative thoughts can spread, gaining power and making it difficult to have positive thoughts.
When you feel negative thoughts enter your mind, try to recognize them. When you see them, release them. Think about the good things in your life and appreciate them. Find something in your life to be happy about.
