How 13 Thai Boys Could Survive In A Dark Cave! (10 July 2018)

Miracle At Doi Nang Non
Tham Luang, Mountain of the Sleeping Lady With “13 Wild Boars”
One of my unforgettable memories is about the story of Thailand’s extraordinary cave rescue in North of Thailand that happened last year on 23 June 2018. The memory popped up in my head and brought me to write about this event. It’s been one year since the event.
The incident began when 13 young soccer players and their coach went missing inside the Doi Nang Non, cave in the north of Thailand. The cave was long and complex. Heavy rains threatened to flood the caves making it impossible to rescue them. They didn’t know if they could be rescued in time.
Doi Nang Non
The Doi Nang Non (also known as Tham Luang) mountains are located in the Khun Nam Nang Non Forest Park in the province of Chiang Rai. The mountains are located in northern Thailand near the border of Myanmar. The shape of the mountain looks like a lady laying down. The mountains are well known by the locals and get their name from an old legend of a Chang Roong princess from Sibsongpanna, a village near Yunnan China. According to the legend, the princess had fallen in love with a young man that worked in a stable and became pregnant. Her family did not approve of her love so the couple ran away from their home, taking refuge in the cave. They were tired and hungry so one day the young man went out to search for food. He was caught and killed by the army of the princess’s father. The princess was heartbroken and afraid of being captured herself so she stabbed herself to death in the cave. According to the legend, the mountain took the shape of the pregnant princess laying on her back.
Because of the complexity of the cave and the grimness of the legend, the people felt worried and fearful that the boys would never come out alive. People prayed for the boys. No one knew if it would be good news or bad news. Everyone was looking for any kind of hope for their survival.
