Too Loose or Too Tight

Think about trying to play the guitar with strings that are too loose. You cannot get a good sound from the instrument. When the strings are too tight, they are out of tune and may break.

If the strings are tuned correctly they make a beautiful sound when played. This is the middle way.

Life is like a guitar. To play it at it’s best it needs to be tuned just right. In life, we need to have a Medium or Middle Way.

Medium For People

Buddha taught that we must find a Middle Way in our thinking. To create a mind that is not too happy or too sad is to avoid suffering. We must not let our feelings go to extremes or we will suffer. We must find a Medium way.

The purpose of teaching the words of Buddha is to give us a right understanding. If we don’t understand rightly, then we cannot find peace. The first thing Buddha taught after he became enlightened was the path to peace. He taught that the path to peace is found using the Middle Way. Avoiding extremes.
