A Buddhist Perspective

I realize Buddhism is not the majority religion in America. Most Americans probably don’t understand a lot of Buddhist ways and what we believe. In my country of Thailand Buddhism is taught and practiced in many temples and is an important part of our culture. Buddhist beliefs are wide and various. I can only offer you my perspective on Buddhism being raised in a country that embraces the Buddhist religion.

My journey to the practice of meditation

In the stillness of the day, the sound of the bell rang. The peaceful sound of the bell rang every three hours while I was sitting at the temple. I felt calm. I felt at peace I came here to meditate because I was experiencing a lot of stress at work. I had been working very hard and it was difficult for me to find peace. Some friends of mine suggested that I try to practice meditating. They invited me to go to the temple with them to learn more about meditation.

The peace that I found while meditating led me to join a temple that taught the practice. The monks taught me the Buddha…
